How the Money is Being Spent

The table below summarizes the beneficiaries of our fund as of 06/01/05.

Organization  Project Description  Award ($1 = Rs. 100)  
Sahanoda Foundation  The Sahanoda foster parent scheme provides Tsunami orphans $10/month. The money is to be distributed amongst 150 children for 1 year.  Rs. 1,800,000 
Center for Peace Building and Reconciliation  Rs. 800,000 is allocated to help run a 5 day workshop to train 40 local youth in broad community building skills including psychological counseling. Rs. 200,000 is to sponsor a youth work camp in Maruthumanai on the east coast.   Rs. 1,000,000 
St. Mary's Convent, Matara  The money allocated here is to help rebuild/renovate the primary, secondary and montessori schools run by the convent that serves a total of 2400 children.   Rs. 500,000 
Habitat Housing   Our allocation here is towards building 5 houses in Batticaloa using a collaborative model engaging 5 families.  Rs. 550,000 
Sahana Project   The funding here is to develop a youth skills development program for a village in Kalamatiya.  Rs. 300,000 
Vammivaddavan Vidyalayam  This project is focused on making tables/ chairs/roof for a school in Kathirveli on the northeast coast.  Rs. 788,200 
NDB Fishermen's Fund  These funds were donated by the Harvard Business School  Rs. 390,000 
St. Joseph's Convent, Batticaloa  These funds were donated by the Walnut St Montessori School, Newton, MA  Rs. 216,200 
St. Theresa's Convent, Batticaloa  These funds were donated by the Walnut St Montessori School, Newton, MA  Rs. 208,200
