March 2000
Sri Lankan cultural group from the Cultural ministry visited Boston. The show was held in Wellesley, MA. At the request of the cultural group SLANE gave certificates of excellence to members of the group which were distributed by the Western Province Chief Minister, Hon. Susil Premajayantha at a ceremony in Colombo attended by SLANE secretary Akalushi Muthukumarana. SLANE secretary, Ms. Akalushi Muthukumarana participated in a special ceremony at the Western Province Chief Minister's office while she was in Sri Lanka. At the request of the cultural group that performed in Boston, SLANE arranged the Western Province Chief Minster, Hon. Susil Premajayantha to present certificates of excellence to members of the cultural group. After the Boston performance SLANE presented $175.00 each to all members in the group.

April 2000
Annual Sinhala & Tamil New Year celebration was held in Malden, MA. A 90 minute cultural show was presented followed by a dinner dance.

June 2000
Annual Vesak Celebrations were held in Laotian Buddhist Temple in Rhode Island. A Sri Lankan Buddhist monk from New York Viharaya was present to deliver a special talk and to do the religious observances. Children enacted the Vessanthra Jathaka Story and SLANE choir presented Vesak Bakthi Gee.

June 2000
Annual Picnic was held at Colt State Park, Bristol, Rhode Island. Sri Lankans played Volley ball, Cricket, badminton and other games and enjoyed meals together.
